[AEM, Vadnagar.]

[The City's Heritage.]

An urban experience design project that stitches Vadnagar’s heritage landscape through punctuators, sculptures, and spatial interventions, transforming the city into an extended museum.

[As a design intern at Design Factory India.]

[Final Degree Project.]

Vadnagar’s urban design framework emerges from its layered archaeological and cultural history, where over 2,500 years of continuous habitation inform both spatial planning and experiential storytelling. The project positions the city itself as a living museum, extending beyond institutional boundaries to create a cohesive heritage experience.

Central to this framework are urban punctuators and sculptures, which act as spatial markers, narrative anchors, and moments of pause within the city. These elements guide movement, enhance wayfinding, and reinforce identity while maintaining sensitivity to the existing built context.

Through material selection, symbolic abstraction, and contextual placement, the project translates archaeological narratives into physical interventions that stitch together fragmented heritage sites. The result is an integrated urban experience where architecture, landscape, and storytelling converge to create a continuous cultural journey.

[Design.]

Rooted in principles of urban experience design, the work integrates cultural preservation with contemporary infrastructure, ensuring that historical environments remain accessible, legible, and relevant within present-day urban life. The design approach focuses on creating a seamless dialogue between past and present through curated pathways, heritage nodes, and public interventions.

[Curatorial Context.]

The project positions the city as an extended museum, where movement, material, and intervention collectively shape a continuous cultural narrative.
