[About.]

I am Ashranee Keote, an interdisciplinary creative based in Mumbai. I work at the intersection of design, research, and exhibition-making. I am particularly interested in how cultural objects and craft, material and immaterial, traditions can be interpreted through experiential narratives that make knowledge accessible, participatory, and socially relevant.

My curatorial interests are strongly informed by exposure to primary research into Indian craft traditions. My projects documenting craft clusters helped me understand the interdependence among objects, environments, and social structures, shaping my holistic approach to interpreting cultural heritage.

Through this interdisciplinary practice, I approach curation as both a research methodology and a form of cultural mediation.

My curatorial practice creates exhibition environments that move beyond displaying objects to engage audiences with the stories, processes, and communities shaping cultural production, contributing to more inclusive narratives that connect past knowledge with contemporary questions and future possibilities.

Alongside research, my professional work in museum and exhibition design has shaped my interpretive approach.

Working on projects ranging from artefact-based exhibitions to public art installations and heritage interpretation projects, I have engaged with the collaborative processes that bring exhibitions to life, working alongside archaeologists, curators, conservators, and exhibition designers to translate research into spatial and narrative experiences.
